Marc Anthony Breaks Silence as Beckham Family Rift Plays Out Publicly

Marc Anthony is choosing loyalty — and restraint — as private tensions inside the Beckham family continue to unfold in public.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published Monday, the singer made it clear he won’t take sides in the very public dispute between David Beckham and Victoria Beckham and their eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham.

“I have nothing to say about what's happening with the family,” Anthony said. “They're a wonderful, wonderful family. I've known them since before the kids were born. I'm godfather to Cruz Beckham. I'm really close to the family. But I have nothing to say about what happened there. It's extremely unfortunate how it's playing out — but it’s hardly the truth.”

The comments come after Brooklyn, 26, shared a series of emotional social media posts last month alleging a long-running family rift that he says worsened after his 2022 marriage to actress Nicola Peltz.

In his statement, Brooklyn claimed his parents had “been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding,” adding that the situation never improved after the ceremony.

Among his most serious accusations, Brooklyn alleged that Victoria — who launched her fashion label in 2008 — had agreed to design Nicola’s wedding dress but pulled out at the last minute, forcing the couple to scramble for alternatives. He also claimed his parents pressured him to sign away rights to his own name, saying their relationship changed after he refused.

One of the most talked-about moments Brooklyn described involved the couple’s wedding reception. According to his account, Anthony — who performed at the wedding — was supposed to introduce a romantic first dance for Brooklyn and Nicola. Instead, Brooklyn alleged that Victoria took the stage, danced with him, and left him feeling “uncomfortable and humiliated.”

Sources later told PEOPLE that Brooklyn was already onstage when Anthony announced, “The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up… Victoria Beckham.” One source claimed the room went silent, while another said Nicola left the moment in tears.

Brooklyn said the experience was so painful that he and Nicola later decided they wanted to renew their vows to replace the memory with something joyful. “We wanted to create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment,” he wrote.

Despite the controversy, Anthony has remained publicly supportive of the Beckham family, whom he has known for decades. Earlier this year, when Anthony announced he and wife Nadia Ferreira are expecting their eighth child, David Beckham commented online that he was “soooooo excited.”

For now, Anthony appears determined to stay out of the spotlight drama — even as his name continues to be pulled into one of celebrity culture’s most talked-about family feuds.
