Just weeks after Miley Cyrus confirmed her engagement to Maxx Morando, her older sister Brandi Cyrus has shared her own happy news. Brandi is officially engaged to her longtime partner, Matt South.
The proposal was extra meaningful. Matt popped the question at the very place where the couple first met — a coffee shop Brandi wandered into after her flight was unexpectedly cancelled. Sharing the news on Instagram on December 26, Brandi reflected on that chance moment that changed her life.
“I’m so thankful every day that my flight got cancelled and I walked into this coffee shop one afternoon and found you,” she wrote. “You’re my very best friend and everything I’ve spent my whole life looking for.”
Brandi, who hosts the Sorry We're Cyrus podcast, made her first public appearance with Matt earlier this year. Since then, the two have kept their relationship mostly low-key, making the engagement announcement even more special for fans.
She ended her post with a simple but powerful message: “I love you forever!!!”
Matt, who owns the business Mountain Choppers, was just as open about his feelings. In the comments, he wrote, “Not sure what I did to deserve such a good woman, but I’m grateful for her every day! I love you!”
The couple’s joy was quickly shared by family and friends. Brandi and Miley’s mom, Tish Cyrus, responded with heart emojis, while close friend Kaitlyn Bristowe commented, “So happy for you.”
