Justin Bieber Says He’s “Not a Product” as He Criticises the Music Industry

Justin Bieber has spoken openly about his relationship with the music industry, saying he refuses to be treated like a product rather than a person.

In a series of Instagram posts shared on December 24, the pop star posted Bible verses alongside personal reflections about his career and mental health. In one message, Bieber said he is no longer speaking from a place of pain.

“I’m not speaking as a victim still bleeding – I’m speaking as someone restored,” he wrote. “I don’t want revenge. I want redemption. I’m not a product. I’m not what the industry demanded. I’m a son.”

Bieber explained that healing has allowed him to forgive what he describes as past injustices, without pretending they never happened. “Because I’m healed, I can forgive,” he said, adding that forgiveness helps stop those experiences from continuing to affect him.

While critical of the industry, Bieber made it clear he does not want to destroy it. Instead, he said he hopes to see it change. “I don’t want to burn the music industry down,” he wrote. “I want to see it made new – safer, more honest, more human.”

This is not the first time the singer has been candid online. In recent months, he has spoken about anger issues, struggles with authenticity, and feeling like a “fraud” despite his success. In one earlier post, he admitted he hates himself when he feels he’s changing to please others, before reminding himself that many people are made to feel they are “not enough.”

There has also been speculation about Bieber’s finances. In April, his representatives strongly denied reports that he was more than $20 million in debt, calling those claims “ill-informed” and “clickbait stupidity.”

Despite stepping back from the spotlight in recent years, Bieber is now returning to major live performances. He is set to headline Coachella next April, earning a reported $10 million for two shows across consecutive weekends.

He has not toured the US since his 2022 Justice world tour. His most recent live appearance was in July 2024 at the Jio World Convention Centre, where he performed at a high-profile pre-wedding celebration and was reportedly paid $10 million for the show.

For fans, Bieber’s message signals not just a musical comeback, but a more personal one — with the singer determined to move forward on his own terms.
