Zara Larsson Says She’s Blocked ‘Abusers’ on Spotify, Wouldn’t Play Chris Brown

Pop star Zara Larsson is speaking out about the artists she refuses to listen to — and she’s not holding back.

During the Tuesday, Feb. 24 episode of Cosmopolitan’s “Cheap Shots” video series, the Swedish singer revealed that she has blocked several musicians on Spotify because of their past behavior.

“There’s so many artists I have blocked on Spotify, and all of them are, like, abusers,” Larsson said when asked to name someone who would never appear on her playlist.

She gave one clear example: “You certainly wouldn’t find a Chris Brown song.”

Chris Brown’s Legal History

Chris Brown has faced multiple legal issues over the years. In 2009, he pleaded guilty to a felony assault charge after physically assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna.

In 2014, Brown pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault following an altercation in Washington, D.C.

In 2017, his former girlfriend Karrueche Tran was granted a five-year restraining order against him after their on-and-off relationship ended.

Larsson has previously addressed her feelings about Brown. In a 2016 video interview featuring a Tinder-style game about songs, she “swiped left” on Brown’s collaboration “Hotel” with Kid Ink.

“I don’t like him,” she said at the time. “I do like his music, to be honest. I think he’s a really talented person. He can really dance and sing. But he’s not a nice person.”

Zara Larsson on Music Taste

Elsewhere in the new interview, Larsson also shared a strong opinion about music preferences.

“If you only listen to one music genre, then I don’t think you’re very smart,” she said, encouraging fans to expand their musical tastes.

Midnight Sun Tour and Billboard Success

Larsson is currently preparing for the U.S. leg of her Midnight Sun Tour, which kicks off Feb. 28 in Portland and runs through April 12 in Houston.

The singer is also enjoying a major career moment. She currently has three songs on the Billboard Hot 100: “Lush Life,” “Stateside” with PinkPantheress and “Midnight Sun.”

With a new tour underway and multiple chart hits, Larsson is proving she’s not only outspoken — she’s also at the top of her game.
