More than a month after Spencer, 42, announced he is running for L.A. mayor, Stephanie, 39, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Feb. 14 to speak out against his candidacy. The siblings, known for their time on MTV’s The Hills, have had a long and strained relationship.
Stephanie Pratt Calls Brother “Unqualified” for L.A. Mayor
In a series of posts, Stephanie claimed Spencer is running for mayor to “stay famous” and promote his January memoir, The Guy You Loved to Hate: Confessions from a Reality TV Villain.
“Spencer has done great work for the palisades,” she wrote, referencing his involvement in the Pacific Palisades community. Spencer and his wife, Heidi Montag, previously filed a lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles after their home was destroyed in the Pacific Palisades fire.
However, Stephanie added that Los Angeles “does not need another unqualified and inexperienced mayor.”
“A vote for him is a vote for stupidity,” she wrote.
She suggested that while Spencer might be suited to lead the Palisades neighborhood, he should not run the entire city.
“I would love him to be [in charge of the Palisades], but not LA,” she posted. “Our city needs help.”
Serious Allegations Against Spencer Pratt
In addition to criticizing his qualifications, Stephanie made personal allegations against her brother.
She claimed that when she was 18, Spencer “beat” her and that she was hospitalized as a result. She also alleged that he got her “hooked on hard core drugs” when she was 15 and said he had a “hidden drug addiction.”
“I’ve kept this all a secret for years,” she wrote. “Now do you get he shouldn’t be running LA.”
Stephanie also claimed Spencer was once involved in a cult and referenced a reported arrest in Costa Rica. In 2010, Spencer said he was arrested in Costa Rica for felony possession of a firearm, according to TMZ. It is unclear whether he was charged or faced court proceedings related to the arrest.
As of now, Spencer has not publicly responded to Stephanie’s latest allegations.
Revisiting ‘The Hills’ Feud With Lauren Conrad
Stephanie also brought up Spencer’s long-running feud with Lauren Conrad, a former co-star on The Hills.
“And yes fact — I will always be on team Lauren Conrad,” Stephanie wrote. She accused Spencer and Heidi of spending years trying to damage Conrad’s reputation for publicity.
“Leopards never change their spots,” she added. “Stay in the palisades Spencer.”
Stephanie Says She Is Focused on a New Career
After facing backlash online, Stephanie said she was not speaking out for attention.
“I have no interest in fame,” she wrote, explaining that she is currently studying to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and wants to help children and adults with autism.
“I’m serious about my new career helping people,” she added.
A Long-Running Family Feud
Stephanie’s recent comments are not the first time she has criticized her brother publicly. Over the years, she has frequently clashed with both Spencer and Heidi on social media. Spencer has also publicly responded to family tensions in the past.
With Spencer now entering the Los Angeles mayoral race, the family conflict is once again playing out in the public eye.
As the campaign continues, it remains to be seen whether these allegations will have an impact on voters — or whether Spencer will address his sister’s claims directly.
