Savannah Guthrie Pleads for Mom Nancy’s Safe Return Two Weeks After Disappearance

Savannah Guthrie is making another emotional plea for her mother’s safe return, two weeks after 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie was reported missing in Tucson, Arizona.

The Today anchor shared a tearful video on Instagram on Sunday, speaking directly to her 1.8 million followers — and to anyone who may know where her mother is.

“It’s Never Too Late”

“It’s been two weeks since our mom was taken,” Savannah said slowly, fighting back tears. “And I just wanted to come on and say that we still have hope. And we still believe.”

She then addressed “whoever has her or knows where she is,” saying it is “never too late to do the right thing.”

“We believe in the essential goodness of every human being,” she said. “It’s never too late.”

In the caption, Savannah repeated the message her family has been sharing since Nancy disappeared: “Bring her home.”

When Did Nancy Guthrie Go Missing?

Nancy Guthrie was last seen outside her Tucson home on the evening of Jan. 31 after being dropped off by family. She was officially declared missing on Feb. 1 after she failed to attend a regular Sunday morning virtual church meeting with a friend.

According to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, Nancy’s home near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue was declared a crime scene on Feb. 2.

Sheriff Chris Nanos said authorities believe Nancy “didn’t walk” away from her home willingly.

“She didn’t go willingly,” Nanos told CBS News.

FBI Assisting in Investigation

Investigators say they have followed “hundreds of leads,” and the Federal Bureau of Investigation is now assisting in the case. So far, no primary suspect has been identified.

Authorities have addressed two developments in the case:

• An impostor claiming to be Nancy’s captor was arrested after demanding ransom money.

• A person of interest detained on Feb. 10 was later released after proving to have no connection to Nancy’s disappearance.

Officials continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.

Family’s Ongoing Plea

Savannah and her siblings, Annie and Camron, have repeatedly asked for help in finding their mother.

In a Feb. 4 video, the siblings said:
“We need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please, reach out to us.”

As the search enters its third week, the family says they are holding on to hope.

Savannah ended her latest message with a simple but powerful reminder:

“It’s never too late to do the next right thing.”
