Arizona authorities say Savannah Guthrie’s mother was taken from her bed in the middle of the night

A frightening new detail has emerged in the search for Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos says investigators now believe 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie was taken by force from her bed inside her Arizona home.

According to a spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff's Office, Nancy was likely abducted from her house in the upscale Catalina Foothills area near Tucson sometime overnight. She was last seen Saturday night and was reported missing Sunday afternoon.

Police say they are casting a wide net as the search intensifies. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from Nancy’s home, nearby houses, local businesses, and traffic cameras. They are also looking into registered sex offenders and other individuals who live in the area. So far, no suspect has been identified.

Authorities would not say whether there were signs of blood, a struggle, or forced entry inside the home. However, officials confirmed that the case is being treated very seriously, with homicide detectives already involved.

The sheriff’s department is now working closely with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which specializes in kidnapping and missing persons cases. Customs and Border Protection has also joined the effort, deploying specially trained K-9 dogs to help track Nancy’s whereabouts.

Police say time is critical. Nancy lives alone, is in poor health, and requires daily medication to survive.

In a statement released Sunday, Savannah Guthrie thanked the public for their support, saying, “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Office immediately.
