A new, big-budget John Wick video game has been announced by Lionsgate in collaboration with Saber Interactive, the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
The upcoming title is described as a mature, third-person action game and is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
A True Collaboration With the Film Team
According to Jenefer Brown, President of Global Products & Experiences at Lionsgate, the game is being developed closely with the film franchise’s creative team.
“We are collaborating closely with Saber’s dedicated team to develop a game that captures the unparalleled action, brand-defining fight choreography, immersive world-building, and authenticity of the films,” Brown said.
Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch added that the studio is honored to work alongside franchise star Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski to bring the world of Wick to life in a AAA gaming experience.
Bringing ‘Gun-Fu’ to Consoles
The John Wick franchise first launched in 2014 and quickly became a surprise hit. The film revitalized Reeves’ career and turned directors Stahelski and David Leitch into highly sought-after filmmakers.
The series is widely known for its distinctive “gun-fu” action style, blending martial arts with tactical firearm combat. Developers say the game will aim to faithfully recreate that fast-paced, choreography-driven combat style that made the movies famous.
Expanding the Wick Universe
Lionsgate has released four main films in the franchise, including John Wick: Chapter 4, in which Reeves’ character appeared to meet his end. However, a fifth installment is reportedly in development, with Reeves and Stahelski teasing there may still be more story to tell.
The franchise has also expanded beyond the main films with the TV spinoff The Continental and the spinoff movie Ballerina. Collectively, the films have grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
Revealed at State of Play
The game was officially unveiled during Sony’s State of Play Showcase, where a trailer debuted during the presentation.
While no release date has been announced yet, the project signals a major step forward for the franchise’s expansion into gaming — this time with a full-scale AAA experience designed to match the cinematic intensity fans expect.
More details, including gameplay footage and story information, are expected in the coming months.
