Federal Authorities Join Search for Timothy Busfield in Child Sex Abuse Case

Federal authorities have joined the search for Timothy Busfield as the investigation into child sex abuse allegations against him continues.

A spokesperson for the Albuquerque Police Department confirmed that the U.S. Marshals Service is now assisting local officers as they work to locate Busfield and take him into custody.

Busfield, who is married to actress Melissa Gilbert, is accused of sexually abusing underage boys who were child actors on the TV series The Cleaning Lady, where he served as a director. Authorities say the investigation began in November 2024, and an arrest warrant was issued on Friday.

At this time, Busfield is not in custody. Law enforcement officials have not disclosed his current location or provided a timeline for when an arrest might occur.

According to police, Busfield addressed the allegations during an interview with detectives. He claimed that the show’s lead actress, Élodie Yung, told him the mother of the two boys was seeking revenge after her children were not asked to return for the show’s final season.

Authorities stress that Busfield has not been convicted of any crime. The allegations remain under active investigation, and law enforcement says more information will be released as the case develops.
