The rumour comes from insider Daniel Richtman, who recently suggested that Marvel Studios has Keery on its radar for a major MCU role. While the part hasn’t been officially named, fans quickly connected the dots and landed on Harry Osborn—Peter Parker’s longtime best friend and one of the franchise’s most important supporting characters.
Talk of Keery joining Spider-Man isn’t entirely new. Similar whispers circulated back in August 2025, though several insiders at the time said discussions were still very early. As of 13 January 2026, Marvel has not confirmed any casting, leaving the speculation firmly in rumour territory.
Online reaction has been swift and divided. Some fans believe Keery would be a natural fit, praising his ability to balance charm, vulnerability, and intensity. Others are less convinced, pointing to earlier portrayals of Harry Osborn by James Franco and Dane DeHaan and arguing that Keery doesn’t match their vision of the character.
Supporters often point to Keery’s breakout role as Steve Harrington in Stranger Things. Over five seasons, he transformed from an arrogant high schooler into one of the show’s most beloved heroes—a character arc that many feel suits the emotional complexity of Harry Osborn. Marvel has also shown a clear interest in Stranger Things alumni, previously casting David Harbour as Red Guardian and Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch.
If the casting does happen, it would mark another big step in Keery’s steadily expanding career. Beyond Netflix, he appeared in the action-comedy Free Guy alongside Ryan Reynolds and earned praise for his role in Fargo. He’s also found success in music under the name Djo, with his song End of Beginning gaining renewed popularity through social media.
For now, fans will have to wait. Until Marvel makes it official, Joe Keery’s possible turn as Harry Osborn remains an intriguing “what if”—one that continues to fuel lively debate across the Spider-Man fandom.
