Mickey Rourke Faces Eviction, Friends Launch Fundraiser to Help Actor Stay Housed

Mickey Rourke is asking fans for support after being served an eviction notice, placing the Oscar-nominated actor at risk of losing his Los Angeles home.

The 73-year-old former professional boxer and film star was notified last month that he was allegedly behind on rent by $59,100, according to People. With eviction now an imminent possibility, a close friend and member of his management team has stepped in to help.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Liya-Joelle Jones organized a fundraiser on GoFundMe to help Rourke “get back on his feet.” The campaign, launched Sunday with Rourke’s permission, has raised more than $8,300 toward a $100,000 goal.

“Mickey is facing a very real and urgent situation: the threat of eviction from his home,” Jones wrote on the fundraiser page. “This fundraiser is being created with Mickey’s full permission to help cover immediate housing-related expenses and prevent that from happening.”

She described Rourke as “an icon” whose struggles reflect a deeply human reality, noting that fame does not shield someone from financial hardship. Jones said the goal is to provide stability and peace of mind so Rourke can remain in his home while working to regain his footing.

Rourke’s landlord, Eric Goldie, filed a legal complaint on Dec. 29 after alleging that the actor failed to comply with the terms of the eviction notice. Court documents obtained by PEOPLE state that Rourke began leasing the property in March 2025 for $5,200 per month. The rent was later increased to $7,000 per month, with Goldie also seeking attorney fees and forfeiture of the rental agreement.

Born Philip Andre Rourke Jr., the actor began boxing as a preteen in Miami after his family moved from Schenectady, New York. He later shifted his focus to acting, earning acclaim in films directed by figures such as Steven Spielberg, Lawrence Kasdan, and Barry Levinson.

Though Rourke returned to boxing professionally in the early 1990s, he continued acting and experienced a major career resurgence with his Academy Award–nominated performance in The Wrestler in 2009.

As the fundraiser continues, supporters hope it will help the actor avoid eviction and find stability during what friends describe as an extremely difficult chapter in his life.
