Keyla Monterroso Mejia and Mo Amer Join Season 2 of Apple TV+ Comedy Bad Monkey

Apple TV+ is expanding the cast of its hit comedy Bad Monkey for Season 2, adding Keyla Monterroso Mejia and Mo Amer in recurring roles. Details about their characters are being kept tightly under wraps.

The series, which is executive produced by and stars Vince Vaughn, is based on the bestselling novel by Carl Hiaasen and was created by Bill Lawrence. Season 2 will move beyond the book’s storyline and introduce a brand-new, original plot.

Several new faces were previously announced for the upcoming season, including John Malkovich, Yvonne Strahovski, Zavior Phillips, Nate Jackson, Brent Morin, Peter Billingsley, and June Diane Raphael. Returning cast members include Natalie Martinez, Charlotte Lawrence, and John Ortiz.

The first season followed Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), a former Miami police detective who finds himself working as a health inspector in the Florida Keys. When a severed arm turns up, Yancy sees a chance to solve a murder and reclaim his old job—if he can survive a trail of eccentric locals and one particularly troublesome monkey.

Season 1 featured a strong ensemble that included L. Scott Caldwell, Rob Delaney, Meredith Hagner, Alex Moffat, Michelle Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith, with guest appearances from Zach Braff, Ashley Nicole Black, and Scott Glenn.

Monterroso Mejia gained widespread attention for her standout performance opposite Larry David on Curb Your Enthusiasm, earning praise from Quinta Brunson, who later cast her in Season 2 of Abbott Elementary. Her recent TV credits include The Studio, Running Point, and Acapulco, along with film roles in You’re Cordially Invited and One of Them Days.

Amer, recently named one of the Comics Who Won 2025, is coming off his massive global tour El Oso Palestino, which sold more than 135,000 tickets across four continents. He also released his third Netflix special Wild World and wrapped the second and final season of his semi-autobiographical series Mo, both of which landed in Netflix’s Top 10.

Produced by Warner Bros. Television, Bad Monkey is overseen by Lawrence through his Doozer Productions banner, with Jeff Ingold, Matt Tarses, Vaughn, Liza Katzer, and Adam Sztykiel also serving as executive producers.

Season 2 of Bad Monkey is expected to premiere on Apple TV+ at a later date.
