Finn Wolfhard Shifts Focus to Music After Stranger Things Finale

After spending nearly a decade in the town of Hawkins, Finn Wolfhard is ready for a new chapter — one that centers more on music than acting.

The Stranger Things star recently revealed that he currently has no acting projects officially lined up after the Netflix show’s New Year’s Eve finale. Instead, Wolfhard plans to focus on making music and touring with his band, The Aubreys, in 2026.

Speaking to Esquire, Wolfhard said he still wants to act — but only if the project truly excites him.

“I definitely want to pursue and keep on acting but only if it’s something that I’m really in love with,” he explained.

For now, music is taking the lead. Wolfhard shared that he hopes to tour with his band next year and release another album. He also has a collection of songs written over the past two years that he wants to record.

“So I’m kind of keeping it open,” he added.

The Aubreys first debuted in 2020 with the single Getting Better (otherwise), which appeared in Wolfhard’s film The Turning. The band later released their EP Soda & Pie and followed it up with their album Karaoke Alone.

Wolfhard has also been building his solo music career. In June 2025, he released his debut solo album Happy Birthday through AWAL.

While he’s stepping back from acting for the moment, Wolfhard isn’t leaving film entirely behind. He recently completed filming on the upcoming stunt comedy Crash Land, directed by Dempsey Bryk, and co-starring Gabriel LaBelle.

As one chapter closes, Wolfhard appears eager to explore new creative paths — with music front and center.
