The former Disney Channel star rang in the New Year by revealing that she is engaged to the Måneskin frontman after two years of dating. Cameron shared a trio of romantic photos on Instagram, including close-ups of her sparkling engagement ring, captioning the post, “My favourite part of being alive. Happy new year,” alongside a ring emoji.
David echoed the joy on his own page, posting the same images with the simple but heartfelt message, “It’s gonna be a beautiful year.”
The engagement marks a major milestone for Dove Cameron, who previously experienced a highly publicized engagement to her Liv and Maddie co-star Ryan McCartan. The pair split in 2016, six months after their engagement. Cameron later dated her Descendants co-star Thomas Doherty for four years before they parted ways in 2020—the same year Cameron publicly came out as bisexual.
Rumors about Cameron and Damiano David taking things further began swirling late last year, when the couple was photographed together in Australia with Cameron wearing a noticeable ring on her finger. Shortly after, they celebrated their two-year anniversary with emotional tributes on social media.
“The 2 best years of my life,” Cameron wrote in an October Instagram post, describing how deeply her relationship with David has transformed her life. David replied with a heart emoji, calling their love “the best part of being alive.”
The couple first crossed paths at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, where Cameron and David’s band, Måneskin, were both nominated for Best New Artist. They reconnected the following year, when David invited Cameron backstage during the band’s Madison Square Garden concert.
“It was very, very slow,” Cameron later told Cosmopolitan, describing their first long conversation backstage. “Eight hours of cautious, interview-type questions before it was finally like, ‘OK, are we holding hands now?’”
David has since described their relationship as the healthiest he’s ever experienced. During a March appearance on SiriusXM’s Hits 1, he shared, “I’m in one of the happiest moments of my personal life.”
Now engaged and clearly smitten, Cameron and David are starting the year with love—and a future—firmly in focus.
