During a recent episode of the SmartLess podcast, Cooper joined hosts Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes while promoting their new film Is This Thing On?. The conversation turned personal when Arnett brought up speculation that Cooper had undergone plastic surgery.
Arnett explained that the topic came up after the two actors filmed a “Guess how well you know each other” video during press for the movie. When asked what people don’t know about Cooper, Arnett said the first thing that came to mind was the persistent rumor that Cooper has had cosmetic work done.
Arnett was quick to shut it down. “What people don’t know is that he hasn’t,” he said, firmly denying the claims. “Of course he hasn’t.”
Cooper agreed and shared that he’s noticed people commenting on his looks more often lately — usually in a surprised tone. “Some people came up to me the last couple weeks and said, ‘Oh, you look good!’” he recalled.
Arnett added that the rumors bothered him, saying it frustrates him when people confidently spread false information. Bateman then lightened the mood by joking that he’s had countless procedures done himself, drawing laughter from the group.
The discussion was part of a broader chat about their new movie, Is This Thing On?, which Arnett directed and co-wrote with Cooper and Mark Chappell. The film centers on Alex, a middle-aged man who turns to stand-up comedy while coping with a painful divorce from his wife Tess, played by Laura Dern. Cooper plays Balls, Alex’s actor friend who provides much of the film’s comic relief. Cooper and Arnett also served as producers on the project.
Is This Thing On? is now playing in theaters.
