The action star and former California governor went big this Christmas with an unforgettable gift for his son-in-law, Chris Pratt, and his family.
Pratt shared the story during a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, explaining that Schwarzenegger’s “love language is giving gifts.”
“He just goes all out with his gifts,” Pratt said.
This year’s standout present was a massive, lifelike painting measuring roughly six by eight feet. The artwork shows Schwarzenegger dressed as Santa Claus while Pratt’s three children peek around a Christmas tree and watch him eat a cookie.
Pratt shares daughters Lyla Marie, 5, and Eloise Christina, 3, and son Ford, 1, with his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger. He also has a 13-year-old son, Jack, from his previous marriage to Anna Faris.
When host Graham Norton joked about how practical such a large painting would be for the rest of the year, Pratt laughed.
“I’m not sure exactly what we’re supposed to do with that for the rest of the year,” he said. “I think we’ll have to break that out in November sometime.”
Fellow guest Dawn French noted that the painting didn’t seem like something that could easily be regifted. Pratt agreed, adding that the painting wasn’t the only present he received from his famous father-in-law.
Schwarzenegger also gave Pratt a pair of crocodile boots that he wore in one of his films. Pratt couldn’t remember the movie but noted that the boots fit perfectly because they wear the same shoe size.
“They’re regifted, but they’re iconic,” Pratt joked.
Although Pratt has not yet shared the Santa painting publicly, he did post photos of other Christmas gifts on Instagram. These included a novelty coffee mug, a copy of Outdoor Pastimes of an American Hunter, and bound scripts from several of his recent projects.
“Merry Christmas! Remember: presence over presents,” Pratt wrote. “Except these. These can stay.”
