In the first trailer for the three-part series, band member Mark Owen reflects on the group’s early mindset. “From the beginning, there was something within us that wanted to prove something,” he says, as the trailer cuts between present-day interviews and backstage footage from their 1990s heyday.
The series, titled Take That, launches on Netflix on January 27, 2026, and promises an intimate look at the band’s 35-year journey. It features never-before-seen footage, rare archive material, and candid interviews with all five original members.
“Nothing beats being in a band,” says Gary Barlow at the start of the trailer. Fellow bandmates Jason Orange and Howard Donald also share reflections, while a young Robbie Williams appears in vintage footage joking before a show, giving fans a glimpse of the group’s playful chemistry.
Take That were central to the UK boy band boom of the 1990s, selling out arenas and dominating the charts. Over the years, they have scored 12 number-one singles and sold more than 45 million records worldwide. Despite lineup changes and a dramatic split, the group remains active today. Barlow, Owen, Donald and Orange are set to head out on a 17-date Circus Live tour, proving their staying power decades after their debut.
The documentary is produced by Fullwell Entertainment, directed by David Soutar (Bros: After the Screaming Stops), with Gabe Turner serving as executive producer.
According to the official synopsis, the series traces Take That’s story from their early days as a five-piece formed in Manchester to global superstardom, their painful breakup, and what’s described as “one of the greatest comebacks in British music history.” Told entirely in their own words, it aims to be the definitive account of the band’s journey.
Their legacy has already crossed into film, inspiring the 2022 musical movie Greatest Days, which the band helped promote at Cannes.
For longtime fans and newcomers alike, the Netflix series promises a heartfelt, honest look at the friendships, chaos and resilience that made Take That one of Britain’s most enduring pop acts.
