Universal Pictures released the film’s first teaser trailer on Tuesday, offering fans a mysterious and unsettling glimpse into Spielberg’s latest vision. The two-minute teaser suggests a world on the brink of discovering a shocking truth — that humans may not be alone.
In the trailer, Wake Up Dead Man star Josh O’Connor appears to uncover proof of extraterrestrial life. “People have a right to know the truth,” he says. “It belongs to seven billion people.” The line sets the tone for a story centered on secrecy, fear, and global consequences.
Emily Blunt is seen playing a Kansas City TV news anchor who suddenly loses her ability to speak while live on air, raising chilling questions about what’s really happening — and whether she may be connected to the alien mystery. Oscar winner Colin Firth also appears in a tense scene, seated in a medical chair as his eyes change color, hinting at something deeply unsettling.
The official synopsis reads: “If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people. We are coming close to… Disclosure Day.”
Spielberg directs and produces the film from a screenplay by longtime collaborator David Koepp, based on Spielberg’s original story. The cast also includes Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, and Wyatt Russell.
Emily Blunt recently shared her emotional reaction to working with Spielberg during an appearance on The Awardist podcast. She described the director as a “movie dad” and said being cast moved her to tears. Blunt praised Spielberg as a master filmmaker who changed the face of cinema and called the experience of working with him “the privilege of privileges.”
With its haunting premise, star-studded cast, and Spielberg back in the sci-fi director’s chair, Disclosure Day is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of 2026.
