On Monday, Weiss shared a video on Instagram saying he has arranged real support for Chase, who appeared on Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide. The clip showing Chase homeless was filmed in Riverside, California, and quickly spread online, sparking concern from fans.
“I have received many messages about Tylor Chase,” Weiss said. “I reached out to some friends of mine, and we have a bed for him at a detox, and we have a place for him to go and get long-term treatment.”
Weiss explained that the biggest challenge right now is locating Chase. “All we need to do now is find him,” he said, adding that he is not currently in Los Angeles. He urged anyone who comes into contact with Chase to message him directly so help can be arranged as soon as possible, especially with the holidays approaching.
Chase is best known for playing Martin Qwerly, a fast-talking and highly intelligent student, during the three-season run of Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide. He also appeared on Everybody Hates Chris and acted in the 2007 indie film Good Time Max, which starred James Franco.
In the viral video, a passerby asks Chase if he was once on the Disney Channel. Chase calmly corrects him, explaining that he worked for Nickelodeon and naming Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide when asked about the show.
Weiss, who famously played goalie Greg Goldberg in The Mighty Ducks and its sequels, knows firsthand how difficult recovery can be. He has spoken openly about his struggles with addiction and celebrated two years of sobriety in 2022, writing at the time, “Recovery is possible.”
His message now is simple and hopeful: with the right support and timing, lives can still change for the better.
