Dave Chappelle Surprise-Drops New Netflix Standup Special ‘The Unstoppable’

Dave Chappelle gave standup comedy fans an unexpected holiday gift by announcing a brand-new Netflix special, The Unstoppable, which dropped the same night as his surprise reveal.

Chappelle shared the news during the livestream of the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua fight on December 18. Appearing briefly before the main event, the comedian addressed viewers in a short video message.

“I wanted to shout out my hometown, Washington, D.C., and thank everybody that came out in October to support me at that show,” Chappelle said. “I just want you to know that show will be streaming on Netflix tonight after the fight. My new special drops, and I hope you love it.”

The Unstoppable marks Chappelle’s eighth standup special with Netflix. His previous specials for the streaming giant include The Age of Spin, Deep in the Heart of Texas, Equanimity, The Bird Revelation, Sticks & Stones, The Closer and The Dreamer. Over the years, Chappelle has built a strong and ongoing creative partnership with Netflix.

In addition to his standup work, Netflix has also released What’s in a Name?, a recorded speech Chappelle delivered at his alma mater, Duke Ellington School of the Arts, offering personal reflections on identity and legacy.

The Paul vs. Joshua fight night drew a star-studded crowd in Miami. Ringside guests included Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria, director Benny Safdie, comedians Bert Kreischer and Matt Rife, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, singer Shaggy, and several other notable figures.

The fight card featured multiple high-profile bouts, with Alycia Baumgardner defeating Leila Beaudoin, Anderson Silva beating Tyron Woodley, and Jahmal Harvey winning against Kevin Cervantes. In the main event, Anthony Joshua defeated Jake Paul by knockout, with Paul managing to last six rounds.

With The Unstoppable now streaming, Chappelle once again proves his ability to command attention—both on stage and on screen—without any advance warning.
