Museum Rules Apply to Everyone — Even Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny learned a simple lesson during a recent visit to a major museum in Mexico City: museum rules apply to everyone, no matter how famous you are.

Earlier this month, the Puerto Rican superstar visited the National Institute of Anthropology and History in Mexico City. During his visit, he shared several photos on Instagram Stories — including one image that appeared to show him touching a historical artifact. The moment quickly caught attention online.

On Saturday, December 27, the museum released an official statement confirming that the incident did happen and explaining how it was handled.

According to the National Institute of Anthropology and History, museum staff accompanied Bad Bunny throughout his entire visit. When staff noticed him place his hand on the artifact, they immediately informed him that touching archaeological pieces is strictly prohibited.

Once the rule was explained, Bad Bunny removed his hand right away.

“As is public knowledge, physical contact with archaeological goods is prohibited,” the museum said in its statement, making it clear that the rules are enforced equally for all visitors.

The moment didn’t escalate further, and the museum did not suggest that the rapper acted intentionally or with disrespect.

The brief museum mishap comes as Bad Bunny prepares for what is shaping up to be a massive year ahead. In 2026, he is set to headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 8.

Reacting to the announcement, Bad Bunny shared an emotional statement about what the opportunity means to him.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” he said. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history.”

In addition to the Super Bowl, Bad Bunny will continue his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour, with shows scheduled around the world from January through July.

Awards season is also looking strong for the artist. He earned six nominations at the upcoming Grammy Awards in 2026, including Album of the Year, Best Música Urbana Album, Best Album Cover, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Global Musical Performance.

The 2026 Grammy Awards will take place on February 1 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

While the museum visit served as a reminder about respecting historical artifacts, it appears to be nothing more than a small footnote in an otherwise landmark year for one of music’s biggest global stars.
