The former child star shared that she has lost nearly 30 pounds while using Ozempic, calling the progress inspiring and a push to keep going with her health goals.
“I usually don’t like paparazzi pictures because I was 180 lbs, but now I’ve lost 28 lbs,” Bynes wrote over a candid photo of herself posted to Instagram Stories on Dec. 22. “I’m down to 152 lbs. I know I still look big but this photo is really inspiring to me!”
In the off-guard snap, the 39-year-old actress wore ripped jeans, a Lady Gaga graphic T-shirt, and carried a small blue handbag. Rather than shying away from the image, she used it as motivation — something she hasn’t always felt comfortable doing.
Bynes has been open about how her mental health affected her weight. Back in March 2024, she told followers that depression had led her to gain more than 20 pounds in just a few months.
“I’m doing a lot better now,” she wrote at the time, adding that she was learning to take “opposite action” — meaning pushing herself to work out and eat better even when she didn’t feel like it. She also shared then that she weighed 162 pounds and hoped to eventually get back to 110.
Since then, she’s been tracking steady progress. In November, Bynes excitedly told fans she was down to 154 pounds, sharing an Apple Fitness screenshot that showed she had crushed her daily move goal and walked nearly 15,000 steps in one day.
While the numbers on the scale matter to her, Bynes has also been candid about other parts of her life — including love. Earlier this year, she joked on Instagram that she might be trying to win back an ex through her posts.
“Am I the only one who’s trying to win back their ex through every Instagram post?” she asked.
She didn’t name names, but Bynes was last publicly linked to Paul Michael, whom she got engaged to in 2020 before the pair split in 2021.
Career-wise, the former Easy A, She's the Man, and What a Girl Wants star has also been rethinking her next steps. After briefly launching a podcast, she decided it wasn’t for her.
“I would rather get my manicurist license and have a consistent job,” she shared late last year.
For now, Bynes seems focused on stability — physically, mentally, and professionally. And as she continues her wellness journey, she’s letting fans see both the struggles and the wins along the way.
