Prince William and Kate Speak Out as Epstein Revelations Resurface

Prince William and Kate Middleton have publicly expressed their concern for victims connected to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, marking the first time the Prince and Princess of Wales have directly addressed the scandal.

In a statement released on February 9, a spokesperson said the couple have been “deeply concerned” by the ongoing revelations following the release of millions of pages of documents linked to Epstein.

“I can confirm The Prince and Princess have been deeply concerned by the continuing revelations,” the spokesperson said. “Their thoughts remain focused on the victims.”

The statement was issued while Prince William, 43, is in Saudi Arabia for a three-day official visit. Palace aides are keen for attention to remain on what they describe as an important diplomatic trip.

The renewed scrutiny comes as the Epstein files have once again drawn attention to William’s uncle, Prince Andrew, and his past association with Epstein.

Prince Andrew stepped back from public royal duties in 2019 after a widely criticised BBC interview in which he discussed his relationship with Epstein. In January 2022, his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, stripped him of his military titles and royal patronages after a judge refused to dismiss a sexual assault lawsuit brought by Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre.

Andrew has consistently denied Giuffre’s allegations but reached a financial settlement with her in 2022, without admitting wrongdoing.

Further action followed in October 2024, when Andrew was stripped of his remaining royal titles and honours and asked to give up the lease on his Windsor home, Royal Lodge, by his brother King Charles, now 77. At the time, Buckingham Palace released a statement emphasising that the royal family’s “utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”

Sources close to William and Kate made it clear they supported King Charles’s decision, sharing the Palace’s statement publicly.

Earlier this month, Prince Edward became the first senior royal to comment on the latest Epstein developments. Speaking at the World Governments Summit in Dubai on February 3, he said it was “really important to remember the victims.”

Meanwhile, Kensington Palace, which houses William and Kate’s offices, hopes the focus will soon shift back to the prince’s diplomatic work abroad rather than the ongoing fallout from the Epstein disclosures.

For now, the couple’s message is clear: amid renewed attention on royal links to the scandal, their priority remains firmly with those who were harmed.
