One Piece Season 2 Gets Special Theatrical Release Ahead of Netflix Premiere

After the big-screen event for Stranger Things, another hit Netflix show is heading to theaters. One Piece Season 2 will debut its first two episodes in cinemas on the same day they arrive on Netflix — March 10.

The special screenings will take place in more than 200 theaters across the United States, Canada, and Japan. In the U.S. and Canada, showings are scheduled for 6 p.m. local time.

When Do Tickets Go on Sale?

Tickets will be available starting Thursday, Feb. 26, at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET. Fans can find a full list of participating theaters and showtimes on Netflix’s official event page, where tickets can also be downloaded.

Major theater chains hosting the screenings in the U.S. include AMC, Regal, Cinemark and Alamo Drafthouse. In Canada, Cineplex locations will participate, along with additional theaters in Japan.

What to Expect in Season 2

Season 2 of One Piece, based on the bestselling manga by Eiichiro Oda, follows Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates as they journey into the Grand Line — a dangerous and mysterious stretch of sea filled with powerful enemies and strange islands.

The main cast returns, including:

• Iñaki Godoy as Luffy

• Mackenyu as Zoro

• Emily Rudd as Nami

• Jacob Romero as Usopp

• Taz Skylar as Sanji

New cast member Charithra Chandran joins Season 2 as Miss Wednesday. Chandran is known for her role in Bridgerton Season 2.

Additional cast members include Joe Manganiello, David Dastmalchian, Katey Sagal, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Sophia Anne Caruso and many more.

Who Is Behind Season 2?

Season 2 is co-showrun by Matt Owens and Joe Tracz, who also serve as executive producers. Oda remains closely involved as an executive producer alongside Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios, as well as Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes and Steven Maeda.

Netflix Expands Theatrical Strategy

The theatrical rollout follows a similar move by Netflix for the series finale of Stranger Things, which received a big-screen release timed to its New Year’s Eve debut.

By bringing major episodes to theaters, Netflix is giving fans a shared viewing experience while still keeping the streaming premiere intact. With anticipation high for Season 2, the one-night event is expected to draw large crowds of anime and live-action fans alike.

One Piece Season 2 premieres March 10 on Netflix, with special theatrical screenings taking place the same day.
