Justin Bieber returned to the Grammy Awards stage on Sunday night for the first time since 2022, delivering a performance that quickly sparked widespread discussion online.

The 68th annual Grammy Awards took place on February 1 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Bieber performed solo, wearing silver basketball shorts and socks, while playing a purple guitar and singing his song “Yukon.”

Reactions on social media were mixed. Some viewers criticized the outfit and overall presentation. One user on X wrote that the performance felt inappropriate for the Grammys, while others questioned why the singer appeared to be wearing boxers on stage. Another post joked that Selena Gomez, Bieber’s former partner, might have been laughing while watching the performance.

At the same time, many fans praised Bieber’s vocals and stage presence. Several viewers said his voice overshadowed everything else, with one fan calling him “the prince of pop” and another saying the performance made them feel like a teenager again.

The ceremony was hosted by Trevor Noah, marking his sixth consecutive year as Grammy host. The show featured performances across multiple genres, reflecting the wide range of music represented at this year’s awards.

Rapper Kendrick Lamar led the nominations with nine nods, including Album of the Year for GNX. Other performers during the night included Sabrina Carpenter, Clipse, and Pharrell Williams. All eight Best New Artist nominees also performed, including Addison Rae, Alex Warren, KATSEYE, Leon Thomas, Olivia Dean, Sombr, and The Marías.

Ahead of the ceremony, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said in a press release that the Grammys are meant to celebrate both emerging talent and established icons, highlighting the diversity of today’s music industry.

The Grammy Awards typically run for about three and a half hours and include major categories such as Album, Record, and Song of the Year, along with musical performances and tributes to artists who have passed away.
