The actor and stunt performer confirmed that the upcoming fifth Jackass movie will be the franchise’s last. The new film is set to hit theaters on June 26.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Knoxville said ending the series now feels right.
“This is the natural place to end,” he said. “So it’s going to be absolutely awful.”
In true Jackass fashion, Knoxville joked that fans shouldn’t expect a smooth ride. When wished good luck on Jackass 5, he quipped, “You hope it doesn’t go well at all! Should be a f*cking train wreck. That’s what you should hope for. I think we designed it that way.”
A Franchise That Changed Reality TV
Jackass first premiered on MTV in 2000. The series, co-created by Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze, quickly became a cultural sensation.
The show featured Knoxville and his crew performing outrageous, often painful stunts and pranks. It ran for three seasons from 2000 to 2001 and went on to inspire multiple successful films and spin-offs.
Over the years, the franchise built a loyal global fan base and helped shape the modern stunt-reality genre.
‘Jackass’ Returns One Last Time
Last month, Knoxville announced on social media that another Jackass movie was officially on the way.
“Well a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang,” he wrote. “We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back!! We will see you in theatres June 26th. More to come but wanted you to hear it from us first!!”
While details about the fifth installment remain under wraps, Knoxville’s comments suggest the film will lean fully into the chaos and unpredictability that made the franchise famous.
If this truly is the end, Jackass 5 will close the chapter on a franchise that has lasted more than 25 years — and left behind countless broken bones, unforgettable moments, and a legacy of fearless, over-the-top entertainment.
