DJ Young Slade, Son of Lil Jon, Dies at 27

DJ Young Slade, the 27-year-old son of Lil Jon, has died, the rapper confirmed in a heartbreaking statement released Thursday.

The music star shared the news with TMZ, revealing that his son, whose real name was Nathan Smith, passed away earlier this week. Lil Jon said he and Nathan’s mother, Nicole Smith, are “extremely heartbroken” by the tragic loss.

“Nathan was the kindest human being you would ever meet,” Lil Jon said. “He was immensely caring, thoughtful, polite, passionate, and warmhearted. He loved his family and the friends in his life to the fullest.”

Lil Jon also spoke about his son’s talent and dedication to music. Nathan was a music producer, artist, and engineer, and a graduate of New York University. His father said the family was incredibly proud of his accomplishments and the person he had become.

“He was loved and appreciated,” Lil Jon added. “In our last times together, we’re comforted in knowing that we told him just how much he meant to us.”

Nathan was reported missing earlier this week in Milton, Georgia. On Thursday, authorities confirmed that a body was recovered from a pond in the area. Police stated there were no signs of foul play. Milton is located about 30 miles north of Atlanta.

Lil Jon also expressed gratitude to the Milton Police Department for their efforts in helping search for his son during the investigation.
