Trump Says No Pardon for Diddy, Shutting Down Prison Hopes

Sean “Diddy” Combs will not be getting a presidential pardon anytime soon.

President Donald Trump says he is not considering a pardon for the music mogul, despite receiving a personal request. Trump confirmed to The New York Times that Diddy had written to him asking for clemency, but made it clear the answer is no.

That response appears to end months of speculation behind bars. Diddy, whose full name is Sean Combs, had reportedly been telling fellow inmates at FCI Fort Dix that he expected a presidential pardon early in 2026.

Those hopes were fueled by real outreach. After Diddy was sentenced in October 2025 to 50 months in prison on two prostitution-related convictions, his legal team contacted a senior White House official with direct access to the president to discuss a possible commutation or pardon. Days later, Trump acknowledged publicly that he knew about Diddy’s request.

At the time, sources said Trump was “vacillating” — weighing the idea without committing either way. Now, his comments suggest that indecision is over.

Bottom line: despite the letter, the lobbying, and the prison buzz, Diddy will have to serve out his sentence. Trump has shut the door on a pardon.
