Victoria, 34, died on Thursday, Jan. 1. Court records show she was arrested at least twice in the past year, including one case involving drugs.
On April 28, 2025, Victoria was arrested in Napa County, California. She was charged with three misdemeanors: obstructing a peace officer, being under the influence of a controlled substance without a valid prescription, and possession of a controlled substance without a valid prescription. She pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Less than two months later, on June 17, Victoria was detained again in Napa County. This time, she was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery. She entered a not guilty plea on July 1.
No official cause of death has been released. Victoria was found unresponsive in a hallway at San Francisco’s Fairmont San Francisco Hotel. Paramedics later declared her dead. Dispatch audio described the incident as a “code 3 for the overdose, color change,” a term often linked to a lack of oxygen. According to NBC Bay Area, foul play is not suspected.
Victoria was the daughter of Jones and his ex-wife, Kimberlea Cloughley. She appeared in a few acting roles when she was younger, including small parts in her father’s films Men in Black II and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. She also appeared in one episode of the TV drama One Tree Hill in 2005. Her last screen credit was the 2014 film The Horseman, which was directed by her father.
In a 2006 interview with The New Yorker, Tommy Lee Jones spoke about working with Victoria on The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. He praised her acting ability and shared that she spoke fluent Spanish, which she learned from her nurse as a child.
However, he also recalled a moment that showed the challenges of working together. He said Victoria once refused to get out of bed for a very early call time on set. Jones said he fired her for not showing up for work, though the crew later stepped in and got her to the set in time.
Victoria Jones’ death has shocked many, and authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding it.
