Actor Scott Foley says he remains in constant touch with his former castmates and revealed which co-star is the most unpredictable texter in the group.
Speaking to PEOPLE at the Jan. 21 New York City premiere of his new series It's Not Like That, Foley joked that Katie Lowes is the one who sends the most out-of-pocket messages.
“Probably Katie Lowes,” Foley said. “She just doesn’t care. That’s her motto in life. She’s so beautiful and talented, and we just let her do what she wants.”
Foley, 53, played Jake Ballard on Scandal, one of Kerry Washington’s key love interests. His character served as White House Chief of Staff and Command of B613. Foley joined the series midway through season 2 and later became a series regular. The show aired from 2012 to 2018 and ran for seven seasons.
Reflecting on his time on the show, Foley said long-running projects often lead to lasting personal connections.
“You always hope the job is long-running,” he explained. “But the benefit is that you really get to know each other. This was a show where we spent a ton of time together, both on set and off set. We enjoyed each other’s company.”
He added that the cast still keeps in touch regularly. “We have a text chain. I talk to them all the time.”
During the premiere event, Foley was surprised with a video message from Washington, who shared her support for his new project and told him how proud she is of him.
Scandal also starred Tony Goldwyn, Darby Stanchfield, Bellamy Young, Jeff Perry, Joe Morton, and Guillermo Díaz.
In a 2018 interview with PEOPLE, Foley shared that one of his most memorable Scandal moments was flying to the Bahamas with Washington to film a storyline in secret.
“Disney flew us on a private jet because the show was so popular and they didn’t want the storyline to leak,” Foley said. “It was just Kerry and me with a very small crew. It was an amazing experience I’ll never forget.”
Foley’s new series It’s Not Like That premieres with two episodes on Jan. 25 on Prime Video.
