The 60-year-old actress accepted the honor during Golden Eve, a new annual prime-time special that aired Thursday, January 8, on CBS and Paramount+. Before taking the stage, Parker was celebrated by her husband, Matthew Broderick, along with friends and fellow actors Colman Domingo and Kristin Davis.
During her emotional acceptance speech, Parker thanked her family, calling Broderick her “brilliant husband” and praising the life they have built together over nearly 30 years of marriage. She also spoke lovingly about their children, saying she hopes to make them proud both at home and in her work. Parker went on to thank her parents, her professional team, her Sex and the City co-stars, and the award’s namesake, Carol Burnett.
Ahead of the broadcast, Parker shared a photo of her award on Instagram, expressing deep gratitude and encouraging fans to watch Golden Eve. She also highlighted the evening’s celebration of Helen Mirren, who was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
The Golden Globes organization announced Parker as the 2025 Carol Burnett Award recipient in November, praising her lasting impact on television both on screen and behind the scenes. Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne said Parker’s career reflects the spirit of the award and her influence has left a lasting mark on popular culture.
The Carol Burnett Award was first introduced at the Golden Globe Awards in 2019 and is given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to television. Past recipients include Ellen DeGeneres, Norman Lear, Ryan Murphy and Ted Danson.
In addition to this new honor, Parker has won six Golden Globe Awards and received 14 nominations throughout her career. She earned four acting wins for her role as Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City and later won additional awards as a producer on the series.
Golden Eve focused on the legacies of Parker and Mirren, featuring personal stories, career retrospectives and special guest presenters. The special is part of Golden Week, a new weeklong celebration across Paramount platforms leading up to the Golden Globe Awards.
The 2026 Golden Globe Awards will be hosted by Nikki Glaser and take place on Sunday, January 11, at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, airing live on CBS and Paramount+ at 8 p.m. ET.
