Liam Neeson loves doing the washing up

Hollywood actor Liam Neeson has revealed an unexpected hobby: he genuinely enjoys doing the washing up.

The 65-year-old says he is happy to scrub dirty pots and pans and often uses it as an excuse to escape boring dinner parties. If there are dishes to be done, Neeson is more than willing to help.

When asked whether he lets dishes air-dry or uses a tea towel, he said he usually dries them and puts them away if he has time.

Neeson was speaking while promoting his new film The Commuter, in which he plays a man whose daily train journey takes a dangerous turn. His character is offered a large amount of money to identify a mystery person on a train.

The film features many familiar elements from Neeson’s action movies, including fight scenes, risky stunts, and intense phone calls.

Despite being a global movie star, Neeson says he is comfortable using public transport. He revealed that in real life he has taken the same train journey as his character “at least 70 times.”

When asked if he is often recognised on the tube, he said it happens sometimes, but most people are too focused on their own lives to notice.

The Commuter is in cinemas from 19 January.
