Hosts of The View criticize Trump over Nobel Peace Prize comments

The hosts of The View criticized Donald Trump for repeatedly talking about not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, with co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin comparing his comments to actor Timothée Chalamet’s high-profile Oscars campaign.

Trump recently accused Jonas Gahr Støre of blocking him from winning the prize. According to Reuters, Trump sent Støre a text message linking the alleged snub to his interest in Greenland. In the message, Trump wrote that because Norway did not give him the Nobel Peace Prize for “having stopped 8 wars,” he felt less obligated to “think purely of peace.”

On The View, Griffin said Trump was not technically eligible for the prize based on his actions in office. She also noted that the award is decided by a committee, not by the Norwegian government.

Griffin then joked that Trump’s focus on the prize resembled Chalamet’s intense awards push for the newly released film Marty Supreme. “I just feel like he’s thirstier for a Nobel Peace Prize than Timothée Chalamet is for an Oscar at this point,” she said, drawing laughter from the audience. She added that she admired the actor but believed “your work should speak for itself.”

Griffin also said Trump is serious about wanting to take control of Greenland. She questioned why the United States would need to own it rather than continue long-standing military cooperation with NATO allies.

Co-host Joy Behar accused Trump of straining relationships with NATO allies, saying his actions were driven by frustration over not receiving the award. She described this as a “narcissistic injury” and warned it could have serious global consequences.

Another co-host, Sara Haines, said Trump’s recent statements could permanently damage his chances of winning the Nobel Peace Prize. She added that threatening war in response to not receiving the award is the fastest way to lose any chance of being honored for peace.
