Ingraham discussed the incident on her Fox News show The Ingraham Angle, telling viewers that she and her crew were removed from the protest site after she attempted to question people in the crowd. The protest was held after the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Minnesota mother Renee Nicole Good earlier this week.
“If you actually go into the mix and try to chat with people, you end up getting escorted out,” Ingraham said on air. She described the removal as “kind of nicely, but aggressively,” adding that protesters escorted her crew away from the area.
Video aired on the program showed Ingraham confronting a masked demonstrator dressed in red. The protester repeatedly called her a “disgrace to the human race.” Ingraham responded by asking twice why the person was wearing a mask. The demonstrator said their nose was cold and questioned why it mattered.
Ingraham said she was “just curious” and insisted it was “just a question.” The exchange escalated as the protester began chanting “Agitators!” and pointed at the Fox News crew. Other protesters soon joined in, chanting “Shame, shame, shame!”
While the crowd shouted, Ingraham commented on air that protesters appeared to be “policing their borders,” before dismissing the chanting as “boring” and asking one demonstrator if they had a job.
After the clip ended, Ingraham told viewers that protesters made obscene gestures toward her crew as they left in their vehicle. She added sarcastically that she thought “they secretly liked us.”
Protests demanding justice for Good have continued across the country. Several public figures have condemned the shooting, including cohosts of The View.
Joy Behar said video from the incident suggested the United States is becoming “a dictatorship in the making.” Sunny Hostin said she believed the footage showed an unlawful killing, adding that her conclusion was “very clear” after watching multiple videos.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem defended the ICE officers involved, calling Good’s actions an “act of domestic terrorism.” Noem said Good attempted to drive away from ICE agents and claimed she tried to run them over with her vehicle. According to Noem, an officer “acted quickly and defensively” and fired his weapon to protect himself and others nearby.
The shooting remains at the center of national debate as protests and calls for accountability continue.
