Jimmy Kimmel Mocks Trump Over Calls to GOP Senators in War Powers Dispute

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel criticized Donald Trump during his Monday monologue, joking that the president behaved like the “world’s angriest telemarketer” after a group of Republican senators voted against him on a war powers measure.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel referred to reports that five Republican senators joined Democrats to pass a resolution limiting the president’s authority to take military action in Venezuela without congressional approval. The vote reportedly angered Trump, who then placed phone calls to the senators involved.

According to the reports cited by Kimmel, the senators included Josh Hawley, Lisa Murkowski, Rand Paul, Susan Collins, and Todd Young. Trump was said to have expressed his anger directly and warned the lawmakers they could face political consequences in future elections.

Kimmel told his audience that the calls reflected a familiar pattern. He said Trump reacts aggressively when he does not get his way, likening the behavior to a telemarketer angrily cold-calling people.

The comedian also pointed to another issue he described as a setback for the president. Kimmel noted that the Norwegian Nobel Committee clarified that a Nobel Peace Prize cannot be transferred from one recipient to another. The statement followed public discussion involving Venezuelan opposition figure María Corina Machado, who had suggested she would be willing to dedicate her prize to Trump.

During the monologue, Kimmel said Trump was reportedly upset by the clarification and highlighted Machado’s appearance on Sean Hannity to discuss the issue. He then read the Nobel Committee’s statement, which said that Nobel Prizes cannot be revoked or reassigned, although recipients may choose how to use their prize money.

Kimmel ended the segment with a comparison meant to underscore what he described as the absurdity of the situation, joking that it would be like George Clooney holding a press conference to demand Timothée Chalamet hand over an awards trophy.

The monologue continued Kimmel’s long-running commentary on Trump, blending political criticism with humor as part of his nightly show.
