Reijn will both write and direct the film, continuing her creative partnership with the studio that backed her recent breakout hits Bodies Bodies Bodies and Babygirl. Plot details for Please are being kept tightly under wraps.
The film will be produced by Reijn alongside her frequent collaborator David Hinojosa through her Man Up banner, with A24 producing and financing the project. Zach Nutman is attached as executive producer.
Reijn has quickly built a reputation as one of A24’s most distinctive voices. Babygirl, an erotic thriller starring Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson, generated significant awards-season buzz, while Bodies Bodies Bodies became a cult-favorite satirical slasher. A24 also previously acquired Reijn’s debut feature, Instinct.
For Abrams, Please represents a major new chapter in an already fast-rising career. She first gained attention with her EP Minor and the follow-up This Is What It Feels Like. Her 2023 debut album Good Riddance earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.
Abrams has also become a familiar name to global audiences through her work with Taylor Swift, opening on select dates of Swift’s blockbuster Eras Tour. In June 2024, she released her sophomore album The Secret of Us, which topped charts in the UK, Australia, and the Netherlands, while debuting at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200. She recently wrapped up her first solo arena run, The Secret of Us Deluxe Tour.
With Please, Reijn continues her strong relationship with A24, while Abrams steps into acting under the guidance of one of indie cinema’s most talked-about directors — making the project one to watch closely as it moves forward.
