Ali Wong and Bill Hader Split After Two Years Together, Remain Close Friends

Ali Wong and Bill Hader have gone their separate ways after more than two years as a couple.

The pair, who made their relationship public in April 2023, have ended things amicably, according to a source. The insider says their busy professional lives and family responsibilities made it difficult to spend enough time together.

“It was too hard to make the relationship work with Ali’s upcoming stand-up tour and Bill’s various film and TV projects this year,” the source explains. Now, both stars are focusing on their work and their children, while still supporting one another.

Despite the breakup, there is no bad blood. “They are very much friends and still in touch,” the source adds, describing the split as “very amicable.”

Rumors of trouble began circulating early last year when Wong did not walk the red carpet with Hader or mention him during her acceptance speech at the January 2025 Golden Globes. Wong won the award for best performance in stand-up comedy on television for her Netflix special Single Lady. At the time, Hader’s representative said the couple was still together and that he missed the ceremony due to a health issue.

Before that, the two were last seen together publicly at the December 2024 premiere of Peacock’s Laid. They had also attended the 2024 Golden Globes together, where Wong won for her role in Beef and shared a kiss with Hader before heading onstage.

Wong and Hader first dated briefly in fall 2022, then rekindled their romance in April 2023 following Wong’s separation from her ex-husband, Justin Hakuta. Their divorce was finalized in May 2024.

In her October 2024 Netflix special Ali Wong: Single Lady, Wong opened up about how Hader reached out to her after learning about her divorce. She shared that he told her he had “had a crush on her forever” and even sent her flowers while she was traveling in Europe. “I did fall in love again,” Wong said during the special, hinting at their relationship.

Now, while their romantic chapter has ended, Wong and Hader appear to be moving forward on good terms—focused on their careers, their families, and maintaining a strong friendship.
