Pierce Brosnan Says He’s Done Talking About James Bond

Pierce Brosnan has made it clear that he is tired of answering questions about James Bond.

In a new interview with UK outlet The Times, the actor shut down a lighthearted question about whether the famous spy would enjoy Christmas. Brosnan replied bluntly, saying he had no interest in thinking about where James Bond would be during the holidays. He added that he would rather focus on his own life than speculate about a character he played years ago.

Brosnan then turned the conversation to his personal plans, sharing that he will be spending Christmas at home with his wife at their island retreat in Hawaii. He later apologized to the journalist for refusing to engage with the Bond-related question, explaining that questions about the role have followed him for decades and will likely never stop.

The actor portrayed James Bond in four films: GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day. He also noted that former Bond actors faced similar frustrations after leaving the role, mentioning that Sean Connery also grew weary of constant questions about the spy.

While Brosnan said he has never rewatched his Bond films with his sons, he spoke warmly about other actors who have played the character and said he remains excited to see who takes on the role next. He also revealed that he would be open to returning to the franchise if the right opportunity came along, especially under acclaimed filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.

Away from Bond, Brosnan has stayed busy. This year alone, he appeared in several films across different genres, including a spy thriller, a western, an animated feature, and a mystery drama. He also starred in a Paramount+ series alongside Tom Hardy and Helen Mirren.

Looking ahead, Brosnan will next be seen in the boxing drama Giant, and he is also set to appear in a remake of Cliffhanger alongside Lily James.

Despite his long association with James Bond, Brosnan seems ready to let the past stay in the past and focus on what comes next.
