Mickey Rourke Faces Eviction After Falling Behind on Rent

Actor Mickey Rourke is facing eviction from his Los Angeles home after allegedly failing to pay tens of thousands of dollars in rent, according to newly filed court documents.

Rourke, 73, whose birth name is Philip Andre Rourke Jr., received a three-day notice to either pay his overdue rent or move out on Dec. 18. Court records filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court state that he did not comply with the notice.

At the time it was issued, Rourke reportedly owed $59,100 in unpaid rent.

The actor signed a lease in March for the three-bedroom, 2.5-bath property at $5,200 per month. According to the filings, the rent was later increased to $7,000 a month. The home is described in a Zillow listing as a “nicely upgraded Spanish bungalow” built in 1926, with literary history to match — famed author Raymond Chandler is said to have lived there for two years in the 1940s.

The property’s owner, Eric Gold, is now seeking possession of the home along with compensation for damages and attorney’s fees.

Rourke’s career has been marked by dramatic highs and lows. A former boxer, he shifted into acting in the early 1980s with roles in Heaven’s Gate and Body Heat, before earning critical praise for Diner. He went on to star in films like 9½ Weeks, The Pope of Greenwich Village, and Rumble Fish.

Despite his success, Rourke’s career later stalled, often overshadowed by personal struggles and erratic behavior. In a 2008 interview, he openly admitted to losing nearly everything — including his home, marriage, and professional reputation.

He staged a notable comeback in 2005 with Sin City, followed by his acclaimed performance as wrestler Randy “The Ram” Robinson in The Wrestler, directed by Darren Aronofsky. That role earned Rourke a Golden Globe win and an Academy Award nomination.

More recently, controversy has again followed the actor. In April, he exited Celebrity Big Brother UK after producers warned him over inappropriate language and unacceptable behavior, including alleged remarks about JoJo Siwa’s sexuality. After his departure, his manager announced plans to pursue legal action over an alleged pay dispute, claiming the show publicly embarrassed him and failed to compensate him.

As the eviction case moves forward, Rourke once again finds himself navigating legal and personal challenges — a familiar chapter in a life defined by both remarkable comebacks and repeated setbacks.
