WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash took aim at Punk during a recent episode of his Kliq This podcast, questioning whether Punk should still be competing at a world championship level.
Nash said he watched Punk closely during the main event of a recent episode of WWE Raw and wasn’t impressed by what he saw. His biggest issue wasn’t the crowd reaction—Punk remains hugely popular—but how the champion looked in the ring.
“I watched Punk in the main event match last Monday,” Nash said. “If you’re the World Champ of WWE and you’re wrestling in a T-shirt… ouch. His punches looked really slow. He looked slow. I think it’s time for him. He’s done.”
Now 47, CM Punk has been one of WWE’s biggest stars since returning to the company, frequently headlining Raw and premium live events. Despite Nash’s criticism, Punk continues to draw strong reactions from fans and remains central to WWE’s plans.
Nash, a six-time world champion himself, has long been outspoken about how top stars should be presented. His comments seemed focused less on Punk’s popularity and more on whether a world champion should appear dominant and explosive in major matches.
The match Nash referenced is believed to be from the December 22 episode of Raw, part of WWE’s push toward its upcoming move to Netflix. WWE is preparing a major anniversary edition of Raw in January, with Punk positioned as one of the show’s key faces.
For now, Punk isn’t going anywhere. He is still scheduled to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker on January 5 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn—a match that could either silence critics like Nash or fuel the debate even more.
