The former reality TV star, now 32, revealed on The Jinger & Jeremy Podcast that she and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, are returning to her childhood home for Christmas for the first time in almost nine years.
“We have not been back to the Duggar house since we’ve been married, in nine years, for Christmas — and we’re going this year,” Jeremy shared at the start of the episode. Jinger called the decision “exciting.”
So why the long gap?
Jinger explained that Christmas has traditionally been reserved for Jeremy’s side of the family. “It’s the only time of year that Jeremy’s family is all together,” she said, adding that they made a conscious choice early in their marriage to spend the holidays with the Vuolos.
Meanwhile, her own family — led by parents Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar — tends to gather often. With 18 siblings, visits happen year-round.
“It’s easy for us just to pop back,” Jinger said. She pointed out that one year alone, she and Jeremy traveled back three separate times for family weddings. “So you’re like, ‘Oh, we weren’t there for the holidays,’ but we were there for multiple weddings.”
This year, however, the couple decided to switch things up — mainly for their kids. Jinger and Jeremy share daughters Felicity and Evangeline, along with son Finnegan Charles, who was born in March 2025. Jinger said she wants her children to experience what a “Duggar family Christmas” is like.
“I miss it,” she admitted. “So that’s also why.”
During the podcast, the couple reflected on how Christmas mornings worked in the Duggar household. According to Jinger, traditions weren’t always the same. Some years were highly organized, with everyone waiting to go downstairs together before opening presents. Other years? Total chaos.
“It was a free-for-all,” she laughed. “Everybody just opens gifts, and it’s chaos.”
Other times, the family took turns, watching each sibling open their gifts one by one. “I feel like it varied,” she said. “Every other year or something.”
This Christmas will include a gift exchange, and Jinger revealed she drew her sister Jana. Jeremy, meanwhile, is shopping for Jim Bob.
“I’m buying for pops,” Jeremy joked.
Jinger didn’t miss the chance to offer advice. “Give him a nice pair of white T-shirts or socks,” she said — or maybe “a new package of underwear.”
Jinger has previously shared that visiting her childhood home now feels very different. Back in July, she described a recent trip as “amazing,” but also overwhelming.
“When you live away from family and then you come back, everybody wants to see you,” she explained. “Everybody wants to connect with you. It can be so tough to juggle all of that when you have so many siblings and their families.”
Still, this Christmas marks a meaningful return — not just to a house full of memories, but to a tradition Jinger says she’s ready to share with her own growing family.
