Elijah Blue Allman Arrested at New Hampshire Prep School Amid Ongoing Family Struggles

Elijah Blue Allman, the son of music icon Cher, was arrested Friday at St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire, authorities confirmed.

According to Concord police, officers responded to a call around 6:51 p.m. about an unwanted male guest allegedly causing a disturbance in the school’s dining hall and “acting belligerently.” When officers arrived, they identified the man as Allman, 49.

He was charged with two counts of simple assault, criminal trespass, criminal threatening, and disorderly conduct. Police said Allman had no connection to the elite private boarding school. He was processed and later released on personal recognizance bail. A court appearance has been scheduled.

The arrest comes after several years of public family and legal challenges.

Past Conservatorship Battle

In late 2023, Cher filed a petition seeking a temporary conservatorship over her son. She claimed Allman was struggling with severe mental health and substance abuse issues and was unable to manage his finances, including a trust left by his late father, Gregg Allman.

Court filings stated Cher feared any funds distributed to him would be spent on drugs, potentially putting his life at risk. Allman and his legal team opposed the request, arguing that he was sober, undergoing treatment, and capable of handling his own affairs.

After several court denials, Cher withdrew the petition in September 2024 following private mediation. At the time, attorneys for Allman said the agreement would allow the family to focus on “healing and rebuilding their family bond.”

Kidnapping Allegations and Divorce

In 2023, Allman’s wife, Marieangela King, made headlines when she alleged in court documents that Cher had hired four men to remove Allman from a New York hotel room in November 2022 while the couple was attempting to reconcile.

Cher denied the accusation, calling the claim untrue and stating that her actions were motivated by concern for her son’s wellbeing.

King later filed for divorce in May 2025 after 12 years of marriage. Allman had previously filed for divorce in 2021 but dismissed the case in 2024 after a brief reconciliation.

Medical Emergency in 2025

On June 14, 2025, Allman suffered a drug overdose at his home in Joshua Tree, California. Authorities reported he was acting erratically before emergency responders arrived, and drugs were allegedly found at the residence. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The incident further highlighted ongoing concerns about his health.

A Complicated Family History

Allman is Cher’s only child with Gregg Allman, to whom she was married from 1975 to 1979. Cher is also mother to Chaz Bono, whom she shares with the late Sonny Bono.

Like his parents, Allman pursued a career in music. He is the vocalist and guitarist for the rock band Deadsy and has collaborated with artists including Thirty Seconds to Mars, Sugar Ray, Korn and Orgy.

Over the years, Allman has spoken publicly about feeling distant from his mother during childhood, including being sent to boarding school at age 7. Cher, however, has maintained that her actions have always been driven by a desire to protect her son.

As of now, Allman remains free on bail and is expected to appear in court in New Hampshire at a later date.
