Trump, posted an angry message on his social media platform Truth Social on Monday, calling the 2026 Grammys “the WORST” and “virtually unwatchable.” He also criticized the broadcast network CBS, saying it was lucky that 2026 would be the final year of its 10-year deal to air the show.
But Trump’s strongest words were reserved for Noah, who hosted the ceremony. Trump compared him to late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, calling both comedians low-rated. He then accused Noah of spreading false information during the broadcast.
Trump said Noah “INCORRECTLY” claimed that Trump and former President Bill Clinton had spent time on Jeffrey Epstein’s private island. Trump firmly denied this and warned Noah to “get his facts straight,” threatening to sue the comedian for a large sum of money.
The controversy began after singer Billie Eilish won the Grammy for Song of the Year. While speaking on stage, Noah joked, “That is a Grammy that every artist wants almost as much as Trump wants Greenland, which makes sense because Epstein’s island is gone, he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton.”
The joke referenced Jeffrey Epstein, who was accused of sex trafficking underage girls. Epstein owned a private island in the Caribbean and died by suicide in a New York jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal charges.
So far, Trevor Noah has not publicly responded to Trump’s threat of legal action. The joke, however, has sparked strong reactions online, with supporters and critics on both sides debating whether Noah crossed a line—or was simply doing his job as a comedian.
