Some reports claimed the Mission: Impossible star had rented a luxury chalet near Cortina d’Ampezzo, which will host events like alpine skiing, bobsleigh, luge, and curling. Others went a step further, hoping Cruise would repeat his headline-making stunt from the Paris 2024 Olympics, when he dramatically abseiled from the roof of the Stade de France during the closing ceremony.
Those hopes have now been dashed. Sources say Cruise will not be in Italy during the Games, which run from February 6 to 22. The denial seems solid—he was spotted out in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, far from the Italian Alps.
Still, Hollywood glamour is far from missing.
Rap icon Snoop Dogg has already arrived to serve once again as a special correspondent for NBC’s Olympics coverage. Meanwhile, a high-profile event in Milan hosted by Ralph Lauren, the official outfitter of Team USA since 2008, drew a stylish crowd.
Among the guests were Grammy winner Usher, Oscar-winning actress Marisa Tomei, Overcompensating creator Benito Skinner, and singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers.
Adding to the excitement, Mariah Carey is already in Milan as one of the main headliners for the opening ceremony. A dress rehearsal revealed she will perform the beloved Italian 1960s classic Nel blu, dipinto di blu, better known around the world as “Volare.”
So while Tom Cruise won’t be making a surprise Olympic appearance this time, the Milan-Cortina Games are still shaping up to be a star-studded celebration—on and off the ice. ❄️✨
