Savannah Guthrie Says Family Will Pay for Mother’s Safe Return After Suspected Kidnapping

Savannah Guthrie has shared a new public plea after the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, saying her family is willing to pay for her safe return.

In a video posted to Instagram on Saturday, Guthrie appeared alongside her siblings, Annie and Camron. Addressing the person believed to have taken their mother, she said the family had received a message and understood it.

“We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her,” Guthrie said. “This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing from her home in Arizona on January 31. Earlier this week, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the case is being treated as a crime.

Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators found “very concerning” evidence inside the home and believes Nancy Guthrie was abducted.

“She didn’t walk from there,” Nanos said. “She didn’t go willingly.”

The FBI has joined the investigation and announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s recovery or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Heith Janke said additional agents and intelligence teams have been deployed from the bureau’s Phoenix office and are working around the clock with local authorities.

Officials said no suspect or person of interest has been identified so far. Nanos also denied reports that there were signs of forced entry at the home.

President Donald Trump said Friday night that he ordered federal law enforcement agencies to assist in the search. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said the investigation is progressing well and suggested answers could come soon.

“I think we’re doing very well,” he said. “I think we could have some answers coming up fairly soon.”

Earlier in the week, Guthrie posted another emotional video asking for proof that her mother is alive. She said her mother has serious health issues and needs daily medication.

“She’s 84 years old. Her health, her heart, is fragile,” Guthrie said. “She lives in constant pain. She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive.”

The family acknowledged reports of a possible ransom message and said they are ready to communicate but need clear confirmation of Nancy Guthrie’s condition.

Authorities continue to ask anyone with information about the case to come forward.
