Savannah Guthrie Pleads for Safe Return of Her Missing Mother in Emotional Instagram Video

Savannah Guthrie shared a heartbreaking plea on Instagram Wednesday night, asking for the safe return of her missing 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie.

In the emotional video, Guthrie appeared alongside her siblings, Annie and Camron. Speaking directly to the person responsible, Guthrie said her mother is elderly, in fragile health, and desperately needs her medication.

“She’s 84 years old. Her health, her heart, is fragile,” Guthrie said. “She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive, and she needs it not to suffer.”

Guthrie also addressed reports of a possible ransom letter, saying the family is willing to talk but needs proof that Nancy is alive.

“We are ready to listen,” she said. “But we need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her.”

Earlier in the video, Guthrie’s sister Annie tearfully described their mother as the center of their family.

“We are just normal people who need our mom,” she said. “Mama, if you’re listening, we need you to come home. We miss you.”

Guthrie ended the video by speaking directly to her mother, offering words of strength and faith.

“Everyone is looking for you, Mommy,” she said. “We will not rest until we are together again. We love you, Mom.”

What We Know About the Case

Nancy Guthrie went missing near Tucson, Arizona, and was last seen on the evening of January 31 at her home in the Catalina Foothills. Police initially classified her as a “missing vulnerable adult” due to her age.

On Monday, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the case is now being treated as a crime after investigators found what they described as “very concerning” evidence inside the home.

Sheriff Chris Nanos told CBS News that Nancy did not leave willingly.

“She didn’t walk from there,” he said. “She didn’t go willingly.”

Nanos also said Nancy showed no signs of cognitive issues and was alert and of sound mind before she disappeared.

Ransom Note Reports Under Investigation

On Tuesday night, TMZ reported that it had received an alleged ransom note demanding payment in Bitcoin for Nancy Guthrie’s release.

The sheriff’s office responded by saying all tips and leads are being taken seriously and are being shared with detectives working alongside the FBI.

A Family Asking for Prayers

Savannah Guthrie was absent from the Today show earlier this week but released a statement asking the public for help. She later shared another Instagram post asking for prayers.

“We believe in prayer. We believe in hope. We believe in humanity,” she wrote. “Please raise your prayers with ours for our beloved mom.”

As the investigation continues, Guthrie and her family say they will not stop searching — and are holding onto faith that Nancy will come home safely.
