In a new interview with Complex on Thursday, Feb. 5, Kardashian, 45, shared how her relationship with West has changed since their divorce was finalized in 2022.
“We’ll always be family,” Kardashian said. “We both know that. We will be okay, and there's so much love for our family. We want what’s best for our kids.”
Kardashian and West first met in 2012, married in 2014, and split in 2021. They share four children: North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 6.
Why Kim Promoted Yeezy Boots
Kardashian’s comments came after fans noticed she promoted West’s Yeezy boots in a January TikTok video filmed during a trip to Aspen.
“I couldn’t deny the Yeezy heel, so I had to shout it out,” she explained. In the video, she praised the boots while styling her outfit, saying there’s “nothing like a Yeezy heel” and adding that she loves when shoes perfectly match her pants.
Protecting Her Kids
While Kardashian says there is still love and respect when it comes to family, she has also been honest about how difficult things have been behind the scenes.
On a recent episode of The Kardashians, she shared how stressful West’s past behavior has been for her.
“I was pretty tested,” she said, revealing that stress caused her psoriasis to flare up again. “My kids are involved now. My job as a mom is to make sure they are protected.”
Kardashian said she worries about what her children may one day read or see. “They’re gonna know things. They’re gonna grow up. They’re gonna see,” she explained.
Kanye’s Apology and Ongoing Struggles
In January, West publicly apologized for his erratic behavior and antisemitic comments in an open letter titled “To Those I’ve Hurt,” published as a paid ad in The Wall Street Journal. He said his bipolar disorder played a role in his actions.
Kardashian has said the stress surrounding their relationship may have affected her health. In a September episode of The Kardashians, she revealed she was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm and doctors told her stress could have been a factor.
“I’m happy it’s over,” she said of the divorce. “My ex will be in my life no matter what. We have four kids together.”
Staying Strong for Her Children
In later episodes, Kardashian admitted she feels frustrated when her parenting is questioned due to West’s behavior. She also claimed that despite his statements, he had “never once called” the kids.
“I always encourage a relationship, but a healthy one,” she said. “Sometimes I just feel like snapping, but I can’t.”
Her focus, she said, remains clear: “My only job is to be strong for my kids.”
Despite the challenges, Kardashian says her goal is peace, stability, and love — especially when it comes to the family she and West will always share.
