On Wednesday, Finneas posted a message on Instagram Threads calling out critics who were angry about what Eilish said on stage. He described them as “very powerful old white men” and suggested their outrage was misplaced.
“Seeing a lot of very powerful old white men outraged about what my 24-year-old sister said during her acceptance speech,” Finneas wrote. “We can literally see your names in the Epstein files.”
Eilish had just won Song of the Year at the 2026 Grammy Awards for her track “Wildflower.” Finneas, her longtime songwriting partner, joined her on stage during the moment.
While accepting the award, Eilish thanked the room but quickly shifted to a political message. She said no one is illegal on stolen land, encouraged people to keep speaking up and protesting, and ended her speech with a blunt “fuck ICE.”
“I feel really hopeful in this room,” she told the audience. “Our voices really do matter, and the people matter.”
The speech instantly went viral, drawing praise from fans who support her views and criticism from others who felt politics did not belong at the awards show.
Finneas, Finneas O'Connell, made it clear he stands firmly with his sister. The siblings have worked closely together for years and often support each other publicly.
As the debate continues online, Eilish has not walked back her words, and her supporters say she used her moment to speak from the heart — exactly as she intended.
