Bianca Censori Breaks Silence on Viral Venice Boat Photos, Says Nothing Explicit Happened

Bianca Censori is finally addressing the viral Venice boat photos that sparked global headlines — and she says the public got it wrong.

In her first interview since marrying Kanye West in December 2022, Censori spoke to Vanity Fair about the August 2023 incident that unfolded aboard a water taxi in Venice.

At the time, paparazzi images appeared to show an intimate act between the couple while they were riding through the city’s canals. The photos spread rapidly online, leading to public backlash and an investigation by local authorities.

Censori, now 31, says the images did not reflect what actually happened.

She explained that she was kneeling on a stool and resting her head on West’s lap while he sat at the back of the boat. According to Censori, nothing sexual took place. She also noted that her aunt was on board, adding that she would never behave that way in front of a family member.

Still, the moment quickly went viral — and the attention deeply affected her.

“It was the first time I was really embarrassed,” Censori said, sharing that the situation was especially painful because of how it might look to her father. She added that as she’s grown, she’s learned to care less about public opinion.

Despite her denial, the couple faced immediate consequences. The boat company that rented them the water taxi, Venezia Turismo Motoscafi, banned West and Censori for life.

In a statement released in September 2023, the company said the driver did not witness any misconduct and was focused on navigating traffic. They also confirmed a third person on board may have blocked the captain’s view. Even so, the company strongly criticized the situation and said the couple would no longer be welcome on their boats.

Around the same time, Daily Mail reported that Italian police were reviewing the incident following complaints from witnesses. A law enforcement source said the matter was being considered as possible public indecency, an offense that could result in an administrative fine.

While Venetian officials voiced outrage, it remains unclear whether any formal punishment was ever issued.

More than a year later, Censori says the experience was humiliating — but also a turning point. Today, she says she’s learned to move forward, focusing less on the noise and more on her own growth.
