Colombian Music Star Yeison Jiménez Dies at 34 in Plane Crash


Colombian music star Yeison Jiménez has died at the age of 34 after a plane crash in Colombia, authorities confirmed.

The crash happened Saturday afternoon in the area between Paipa and Duitama. According to Colombian officials, the small aircraft went down shortly after takeoff while en route to Medellín. All six people on board were killed.

Jiménez’s team confirmed his death in a statement shared on Instagram, describing the loss as “indescribable.” They honored him not only as a celebrated artist, but also as a son, brother, and friend who inspired thousands of fans through his music and personal story.

The aircraft is believed to have been owned by Jiménez’s firm. He was reportedly traveling to perform near Medellín at the time of the crash.

In a chilling final post, photographer Weisman Mora shared video recorded inside the plane moments before the accident. The footage shows the aircraft taxiing on the runway shortly before takeoff. Video taken after the crash shows the plane engulfed in flames as emergency crews worked to control the fire.

Jiménez was one of Colombia’s most successful and influential artists, known for blending Mexican ranchera sounds with Colombian musical styles. His songs earned him a large following across Latin America and beyond.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Jiménez is survived by his wife and three children.
